A Parsi family

A Parsi familyA Parsi family that so cheerfully posed for my #parsiproject.

(L-R) Freny, Khushnaz and Hormuz run the Oliaji Duke Hotel in Devka, Daman. Shahanaz (extreme right) is Khushnaz’s mother.

Perhaps the hotel’s most well-known patron was a gentleman called Behram Contractor, the late founder editor of The Afternoon.

His wife Farzana now runs the magazine Upper Crust which featured the hotel (here).

Contractor’s most famous columns were written under the pen name Busy Bee. Occasionally, his own community would be the subject of his columns. In this one, he writes about attending a Parsi wedding.
